Veterans Memorial Coliseum

As the organizer of the Portland Veterans Stand Down, Transition Projects works with partner organizations to offer a welcoming and supportive event for homeless and at-risk Veterans from the Metro-area.

In 2015 over 450 homeless men and women veterans attended the Stand Down. Nearly 200 had not been aligned with programs and services to help them get off the streets and were introduced to the Veteran Services offered at Transition Projects.

Transition Projects’ Veteran Services team leads the effort to end Veteran homelessness in Portland. Partnering with three other agencies, in 2015 their goal to house 690 Veterans was exceeded. By year-end, 695 Veterans including 291 chronically homeless Veterans were housed. Veteran Services placed over 500 of these 695 Veteran families into housing. In 2016, the team continues to house approximately 30 Veterans each month, with a waiting list of 200 additional Veterans to be housed.
